What does Commissioning mean?

The testing of systems prior to handover to the employer to check that everything works correctly, particularly where there are complex mechanical, electrical and/or other technical installations in a project. Checks will also be to ensure that such systems meet any performance specifications in the contract.

Equipment hire agreements may also be referred to as equipment leases, equipment rental, operating leases or finance leases. Unfair commercial practices—checklist This Checklist considers the key practices, actions and omissions amounting to unfair, misleading or aggressive commercial practices under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, SI 2008/1277 (CPUTR 2008), which may lead to criminal prosecution, regulatory action and adverse publicity. Consumers also have private rights of redress, including the right to unwind the contract, the right to a discount and the right to seek damages. It considers the changes that the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA 2024) will bring about. Power purchase agreement (PPA)—Checklist Power purchase agreements (PPAs) and consequently the checklist issues that arise will vary depending on a number of factors, including the type of energy generating technology utilised and, particularly, whether or not feedstock or fuel is required for operation of the completed facility. Whether the PPA, a short-term trading arrangement or a longer-term arrangement needed to underpin financing will also have a significant impact. When can a tenant be liable for contaminated land? STOP PRESS: The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016, SI 2016/1154 come into force on 1 January 2017. The regulations consolidate all of the amendments to the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010, SI 2010/675 rather than making any substantive policy changes. Contaminated land regime The contaminated land regime contained in the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Part IIA ( EPA 1990, Pt IIA) places a statutory duty on local authorities to identify 'contaminated land' in their area and to secure remediation. MoJ publishes letter on implementing duty to collaborate under VPA 2024

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has published a letter, outlining the proposed timelines for implementing the duty to collaborate under the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024 (VPA 2024). Once implemented, this duty will introduce new responsibilities for Police and Crime Commissioners, local authorities, and integrated care boards, requiring them to collaborate in commissioning community support services in England for victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and serious violence. Implementation is subject to the Spending Review and internal departmental allocations process, with the MoJ noting that the duty could commence from Spring 2026. The MoJ also intends to launch a consultation in early 2025, enabling stakeholders to comment and contribute to the development of the guidance.
