Where a worker has performed work for at least part of the qualifying year, an entitlement to paid annual leave is formed. Holiday pay during paid annual leave, is currently set at 12% of their income earned during the qualifying year. However, this rate is often higher where collective bargaining agreements exist. (3.1)

This means that a person who worked full-time during the entire qualifying year may have a somewhat higher rate of pay during their annual leave, than they would be compensated for whilst working.
