This morning, our Chief Executive Officer Mike Walsh, along with colleagues from ½Û×ÓÊÓƵ Legal & Professional and RELX Group took part in the official launch of , hosted by the United Nations Global Compact. Together with customers Baker & McKenzie and Linklaters, they introduced the as well as the .

The B4ROL Framework is a call to action and guide for businesses around the world in taking proactive, voluntary actions to support the rule of law in everyday operations and relationships. In September 2013, ½Û×ÓÊÓƵ and the Atlantic Council presented the initial draft of the Global Rule of Law Business Principles to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, which served as the foundation for this effort. The launch tomorrow marks a pivotal moment in an almost two year journey and is cause for celebration among all of Legal & Professional, especially in this year that we commemorate 800 years of the Magna Carta. With outstanding commitment and support from our teams, we led more than half of the global consultation workshops that defined the final Framework—spanning Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and North America.

As part of her portfolio career Sophie runs various learning and development and networking forums for in-house lawyers and mentors junior lawyers.  These include Flying Solo for small and solo legal teams and Aspire for junior in-house lawyers which she runs for ½Û×ÓÊÓƵ UK.  She also works with schools and organisations to promote social mobility within the legal profession, working with The Social Mobility Business Partnership and Aspiring Solicitors. 

She trained as a lawyer in the City and worked as an in-house lawyer for 10 years including as Head of Legal for Virgin Radio and Ginger Media Group.  

Outside of work she is happily married with three sons and enjoys morning walks along the beach with her two dogs.
